It covers the Department's major aid programs, including Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, and PLUS Loans. About 70% of all student aid comes from the programs discussed in the Guide. The Student Guide is available free at the U.S. Department of Education web site.

FAFSA: To qualify for Federal Financial Aid to help defray the cost of college, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form on the internet. Since about 70 percent of available Financial Aid comes from the Federal government, it is worth making an effort to understand the terms and conditions of the Federal programs well in advance of actual need. This is a service of the U.S. Department of Education.
