The Tortoise and The Hare Reviews --- ComputerLife, October 1994:
"It all happened one night at a party at a friend's house, when a bunch of us wanted to check out his killer new multimedia system. We headed to his computer room, where we discovered his daughter busily clicking her way through The Tortoise and the Hare, a recent installment in the Living Books series. Initially, I was impressed with the colorful graphics of what is best described as an electronic pop-up book, but I was impatient to coax her away from the PC so we could check out some real CDs.
"Soon, though, I was hooked and I wanted to coax her out of the chair so that I could play. When she went to bed (finally!), I leaped at the chance to experience Living Books first-hand. I wasn't alone, Before long, half the party was taking turns with Arthur's Teacher Trouble, Just Grandma and Me, and my favorite - Ruff's Bone. Each colorfully illustrated story is filled with charming, high-quality artwork and great narration. You can sit back and have the story read to you (couch-potato mode), but the adults at the party found that the real fun is clicking around on the screen.
"Almost every detail on every page came alive with a click of the mouse. Before long we had rabbits scampering, flowers singing, even fence posts goosing Grandma. It was like being inside a Saturday morning cartoon, only better. The imagination stuffed into these discs is amazing - and addictive to children of all ages."
